Landlord Powers Pub with Bio-Diesel!

!
Fireing Up Generator To Run The Crown Inn Woolhope

A previous landlord was fed up with the amount of power cuts that the area kept having and spent a lot of money on a large generator. When we moved in we wanted to be able to utilise this asset.

We did some research and found that we would be able to run the generator on bio diesel made from our waste chip fryer oil!

We produce about 40 litres a week at the Crown Inn. We have now made our 3rd batch of bio diesel and have been powering the pub every lunchtime since!

It is great news for the environment as we do use a lot of power with all the refrigeration and kitchen equipment. It will also help the bank balance as the cost of electricity just keeps rising!

My wife and I are selling our petrol cars so we can make use of the 2,500 litre duty free usage for motor cars that the chancellor allows!

To top it off the only waste product is glycerine which is the major ingredient in soaps and is an excellent de-greaser. A local has pointed out that there is an old recipe for making soap which uses wood ash, as I have installed a wood burner to further cut down on fossil fuel usage we are thinking of starting a new business.... slocs soaps!!
